Meet the new autumn

Ajikan is said to be the oldest meditation method in Japan, introduced by Kūkai, the founder of the Shingon sect of Buddhism. It is believed that by adjusting “posture,” “breathing,” and “mind,” one can improve concentration, reduce stress, and enhance mood. Additionally, at Nariai-ji Temple, there is a story that when a practicing monk faced a life-threatening situation, he prayed to the principal deity, Avalokiteshvara (Kannon), and was saved. The Ajikan meditation at Nariai-ji Temple is regarded as a place to express gratitude to Kannon for living today and to harmonize the mind for tomorrow. Under the autumn evening sky, surrounded by beautifully illuminated autumn leaves, we invite you to experience this special Ajikan meditation.
