Hatsumode

Hatsumode is the first shrine visit of the New Year in Japan.
It’s a traditional where people go to a Shinto shrine to pray for good fortune.
It usually takes place between January 1st and January 7th.
At a shrine during Hatsumode, people typically pray for good health, happiness, success in their endeavors, prosperity for their family.
Some also make specific wishes related to their personal goals, like passing exams, finding love, or achieving career milestones.
In addition to praying, people often receive omamori, which are protective amulets that bring good luck and safety.

To avoid traffic jam, you can park at the roadside of station in Miyazu, and then take a ferry to the area around the shirine.
